I just published a few Stories but the time it says I published them is incorrect. The link I shared (above) shows it was published yesterday, but I actually JUST published it a minute ago. My computer is accurate with time/date, so I am confused as to why the Stories are showing a different time. Please advise.

*note: everything in WordPress is updated to the latest versions.

    Hi there,

The story’s source code says 2021-05-21T13:05:16+00:00, which is indeed just ~1hr ago.

I assume it says yesterday in the Stories Dashboard? What does it say under “All Stories”

Most importantly, in your WordPress admin, which timezone have you selected under Settings -> General?

My timezone (in admin, settings, general) is correct as New York.

It shows “yesterday” in the My Stories dashboard.

Under “All Stories” it also is incorrect. This Story I shared as an example says “Published 2021/05/20 at 10:48 am” (which would be “yesterday”) even though apparently the source code (as you mentioned) is accurate.

    @glamkaren Thanks for the update.

    1) Could you update to Web Stories v.1.7.2 that was recently released?

    2) Next, could you please submit your Site Health information privately here? We’d like to take a closer look at your setup.

    – Please include your hosting provider information in the form too.

    Thanks!

Stories was already version Version 1.7.2

I submitted the Site Health but have NO idea what the “Environment” question meant so I just picked one (no idea if it’s correct or not).

    Thanks…

@glamkaren Thanks! We’ll look over this information and test on this end. Meanwhile, could you clear all caching and check if you notice the issue in an incognito window?

If possible, could you test if the issue occurs when all other plugins are disabled and only Web Stories has been activated?

    Hmm, that’s very strange.

In the REST API there’s the same 2021-05-21T13:05:16 (GMT) / 2021-05-21T09:05:16 (New York) date, however your RSS feed says 20 May 2021 14:48.

Since the REST API has the correct date, and the RSS feed and the “All Stories” page are generated by WordPress with no changes by this plugin, to me that very much sounds like there is a conflict with another plugin or a theme.

The Site Health information will help us confirm.

Looking forward to hearing what you discover from Site Health. Thanks…

Another possibility that just came to mind:

Did you start creating the story on Thursday, and finalized & published it on Friday?

I realized there’s an issue with the story editor where it sets the publish date the to current date when you start creating (Thursday in this case), instead of setting the publish date when you actually publish (Friday in this case).

Whereas in the WordPress block editor it will do so by indicating “Publish Immediately”.

You can verify this by opening the story again in the editor, and you should see the Thursday date in the Document panel. Simply changing it to Friday would resolve this.

So this is clearly a bug in the editor that we’ll address.

I very rarely (I dont think ever) publish the day that I create the Story. Normally I create it one day, come back to it another day, add more/edit, then publish.
