Time bombed Theme destructs on editing the Footer.php (6 posts)

So I decide to dev a theme after finding out they were having me sell fake iphones in the footer.php, trying to get rid of the code in the footer crashes my site with a blank screen telling me to buy the theme, which is grossly overpriced. There doesn't seem to be any encryption however.

    Pastbin files are:

    Footer.php -

    Header.php -

I honestly don't know what to do, the site is a gift and after 10 hours of development I can't really go back, but I definitely think these guys are an anti-WP kind of group.

The pieces of code most interesting are are the bottom of Functions.php and Footer.php, they reference the spam.

Sorry, but your chosen theme isn’t released under the GPL as they are required to be, and so is not really welcomed by the WordPress community, or deserving of support here.

I would advise you to save yourself more headaches and potential problems down the track by using that theme and just switch to another theme from a reputable developer. There are plenty of high quality free and premium GPL themes available.

    1. You're wrong, and 2. You have no idea what theme I'm talking about, and 3. You aren't a moderator, so why are you responding like one?

I can see from a credit in the code where you obtained the theme. It is not a free GPL theme from the theme directory, neither is it one from one of the trustworthy commercial providers listed at http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/commercial/

Personally I wouldn't touch that theme or any from that supplier with a ten foot pole and this is why: http://www.themelab.com/2009/12/08/stop-downloading-wordpress-themes-from-shady-sites/

If you download a free WordPress theme from the wordpress.org theme directory, you know that it does not carry any advertising (apart from in some cases a small easily removed link credit in the footer) and it has been checked and approved by the theme review team.

I would advise you to run TAC, Theme Authenticity Checker, a free plugin that scans themes and makes sure the theme is not harmful to your install of WP, server, etc...

Also, It is not a free GPL theme. The credit is clear as day!

Actually, I'll guarantee that premiumwp is 100% correct. The Theme you're working with is malware, that includes spammy footer links, footer-modification kill code, and, I'm guessing, encrypted footer code as well.

I don't care what the name of the Theme is; I guarantee that it's not released under a GPL-compatible license.

And as such, no support will be provided for such a Theme in this forum, as per the stated forum policy.

I would recommend starting with a Theme from the official WordPress Theme repository, rather than the crappy Theme you're currently trying to use.
