Tiled Galleries image popup does not remember page position, goes to top of post

The jetpack tiled galleries are problematic and make for a really bad user experience on long posts and posts with multiple galleries.
When you click an image in a jetpack gallery it loads the full screen view, once you close the fullscreen view the page position will jump to the top of the post not the location where you were in the post when you clicked the image / the location of the source gallery in the post. This is super frustrating.
I created a sample page to demonstrate the issue, this site I just use for messing around with wordpress. Scroll down to the bottom of the post, click a image in the image gallery, then close the pop-up and it will jump page position to the top of the post.
