Support » Plugin: MailPoet - emails and newsletters in WordPress » Thunderbird report scam

  • Hello,

I’m trying the free version of Mailpoet. This is a great!! add-on. In 5 minutes it is setup and can send mails without looking for help! Great.

    Now the problem ;-(

I send a test mail to a list with 1 subscriber (myself). I’m using Thunderbird on Linux. The mail is good, but Thunderbird report the mail as possible scam.

Any idea on what to look on? I have a link to my webpage (different than the WP site where Mailpoet is running on), link to my email adres and the unsubscribe link.

    Thank you, Wilfried

  • Hello,
I found out why Thunderbird report possible scam. However I do not now how to solve it.

The reason: I have a link to my website on the botom of my mail. The URL and the text are the same: URL: https://uwbemiddelaars.be and the text also.

    But in the mail it is different: <a href="http://bemiddelaars.vlaanderen/rvb?mailpoet_router&endpoint=track&action=click&data=WyIxIiwiOGY0YzJjIiwiNCIsImQwZGQxY2E4ZDc2ZiIsZmFsc2Vd" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">https://uwbemiddelaars.be</a>

The href points to the site where Mailpoet is installed instead of the URL of the link I did edit.

How can I solve this so that the link in the mail is like it should be: <a href="https://uwbemiddelaars.be">https://uwbemiddelaars.be</a>

    Hi there @wilfried1954,

Can you send a test Newsletter via mail-tester.com, please? And then post a link to the results?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thank you. I did and this is the link to it: https://www.mail-tester.com/web-rlwu0

As you see the a href points to http://www.bemiddelaars.vlaanderen/&#8230; and the text is https://uwbemiddelaars.be Both are different and that is why Thunderbird report possible scam.

    Thank you, Wilfried

If you switch ‘open and click tracking’ off, then the URL is correct.

Can we change that setting on a by-newsletter basis?
And where can we find it?
