Thumbs not created during upload. Broken image icon in Media Edit.

This is a brand spanking new install of WP 3.7.1 running no plugins (other than default) and 2011 themes to eliminate theme and plugin issues. Permissions are all correct as well. GD seems like it;s installed. Anything else?
