The slideshow with issue is at the very bottom of the link page above. Everytime I have to change images in a slideshow several things happen:

1 — I delete the old images, yet the “X” for missing image shows up. Have to clear browser cache and SOMETIMES the X’s go away, sometimes not.
2 — I upload new images, but the thumbnails for new images will not appear at proper thumbnail size. The old thumbnails stay the correct size (120 X 90), but the new ones maintain the default size even though the correct size is configured (and saved) in the “Other Options” section.

Even if I reset all option, then reconfigure correct thumb size, nothing changes. I can remove the “thumbnail link” (also in options), but the thumbs refuse to down size. I’m trying everything including refresh, clear browser cache, jumping up and down, no luck.

I’m using the latest short code for these thumbnail galleries. This highly annoying issue is why I won’t upgrade to the professional version. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Thanks

    Hi @notrobo!

I’m really sorry to hear about the broken / missing images. Let’s see if we can create some new ones to fix the issue. Follow these steps:

    1) Open up your gallery under ‘Manage Galleries’
    2) Select all images and under the ‘bulk actions’ drop-down select ‘create new thumbnails’.
    3) once this process finishes, navigate to Gallery > Other Options > Misc. and clear image cache.

Let me know if this helps 🙂

Thank you, Becky, for your reply. However, I’ve tried the steps you recommend, and it’s hard to tell if they worked or not. The reason is because I’ve had to try SO MANY LITTLE THINGS to get the galleries working properly, one forgets exactly what one has done. It seems I just have to poke, and poke, and poke around, trying all the little tricks, and buttons, and clicks to get the gallery to appear properly, then after a little time, or sometimes a LOT of time, finally things look right. It’s really crazy. For example, one time clearing browser cache will fix things, other times, I can clear til the cows come home, with no good results. In other words, sometimes things work, sometimes not. My question: How did Next Gen get so broken?! It used to work great, and slowly seems to become more and more dysfunctional. Bottom line, I hope you guys can finally fix all the little issues. Thanks

I’m really sorry to hear the plugin isn’t working as smoothly for you as it has in the past, @notrobo 🙁 The truth is that WordPress is open source, which means that every element of your site is being maintained by different developers, on their own schedule. It’s virtually impossible to promise compatibility with every plugin and theme on the market, but we do our best to keep compatible with the most popular. Another element of your site to keep in mind is the server environment. Not all servers are created equal; it’s important that yours is kept up to date with the most current PHP and MySQL, plenty of memory and sufficient upload and post limits. You’re right, it can easily feel like you have to search several places to find a solution, especially frustrating when the problem seems so small – so the solution should be easy to find! I agree. Looks can be deceiving though, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes, so sometimes it does take some time to narrow down to the source. I appreciate your patience and understanding. 🙂
