Support » Plugin: Related Posts » Thumbnails will show default and not featured images

    Hello There,

Well I just made the update of Related Posts Plugin and now the Thumbnails would only show default images and not my featured images like it used to before the update.

Here is an example of page.

Also, the Related posts used to appear at the bottom of the article AFTER my social share buttons… now the related posts are before the buttons…

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

  • Hey, thanks for reaching out, I’ll gladly help!

The thing is, our plugin usually extracts the first image from your blog posts as the thumbnail for it’s related post, but sometimes this does not work (especially if the image in question is smaller than 150×150 pixels).

But if there’s a featured image set for a particular post, then our plugin will extract that image instead. I’d recommend you to try that — set a featured image in one of your blogposts (or more of them) and see if this helps in any way.

As for the related posts position — would you please be so kind and let us know how is that plugin called (the social share buttons one)?

Let us know what’s up and I’ll do my best to help you out!

Take care & I’m looking forward to your reply!

    Hello Silvo,

Thanks for your post and sorry for the delay (took some days of real holidays …).

Well, the thing is, that all my posts already have a featured image that is set and that was used by your plugin as a thumbnail before the upgrade.
So, I don’t know where we stand about that !
FYI, my featured images are also smaller than 150×150… you can see them on my homepage. ….

As per my share buttons, the plugin is Shareaholic.

Awaiting for your insights on that matter.

Thanks again for your kind help,

Hey Sam, no worries about the late reply, I (regretfully) do it all the time. 🙂

Hm, this does seem a bit weird, but then again, we did make some changes to out current thumbnailer (the one responsible extracting thumbnails from your widgets), which was released with the latest version of this plugin you are using.

The best recommendation I can give you right now is to switch to the previous version you were using before — you can get it under the developers tab of our plugin page. Here’s the link:

Or you can try out our other related posts plugin called ‘Related Posts by Zemanta’, which is basically the same plugin, just that it uses a different kind of thumbnailer. You are more than welcome to try it out and let us know if it’s any better:

Anyways — do let me know how it goes or if you have any questions what-so-ever! I’ll be more than glad to help you out!

Take care & have a nice weekend ahead!
