    Hello all,
    Thumbnails on my website have a display ratio error, not all thumbnails display the whole image of the featured product properly as if the thumbnails were zoomed in.
    I have been trying for a long time to fix this issue, i have checked the forums for references to this problem and I have tried basic approaches like media settings and editing image size and thumbnail size to no effect.I also tried using plugins for rebuilding thumbnails i just tried again using ajax thumbnail rebuild and changed the thumbnails size to 1280 x 720 and it did not change anything.it looks like the thumbnails are not wide enough or zoomed in for some thumbnails but i cannot seem to change this.
    Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks a lot
    kostas

  • The one thing I notice is when the product is sold out. The sold-out appears above the container for your items which pushes your item down making look a little jagged. There are things you could try to fix it. You could try setting the container which houses both of them to a position of relative and the sold-out container to absolute. The sold-out would float on top of the image.

    You could also try setting the display to a grid and give each row a height. That way it would maintain the same height if the sold-out was displayed or not displayed;

    I looked at it again I don’t think a grid will work.

    Here some code if you want you would have to adjust it to your liking. You can place it in the customizer additional CSS option. If you don’t like it just delete it out.

    span.soldout {

        position: absolute;
        z-index: 999;
        border-radius: 25px;
        border: 3px solid red;
        padding: 11px;
        background: white;
        top: 45px;

        left: 35%;
    }

    But do you see what I mean when I say that the product images themselves – that originally were fine- at least some of them are not displayed properly as if the thumbnail is zoomed in or something in the homepage? i have tried a post thumbnail editor , i have tried editing media size and thumbnails size, regenerating thumbnails …nothing i do seems to do the trick..

    WordPress uses a function called add_image_size() to create the thumbnail image if the ratio of the image doesn’t match the parameters of the thumbnail it will crop the image to make it work. WordPress has no idea what the image is about. It just crops it. Sometimes it can lead to some really bad results. The best solution is to crop the image before uploading so they have the same ratio. There is a way to keep WordPress from cropping the thumbnails but you probably wouldn’t like the results.

    what i eventually did was to reupload the problematic thumbnails and crop them before posting them. I could not fix the issue in any other way.
