    Installed a new theme that uses thumbnails on the main page. (of previous posts ).

    It doesn’t seem to be working. (see site above).

    The theme is Gemer.

    I thought the thumbnails were automatically generated but I can’t see where they should be or any way of manually doing it.

    Looking at the source html you can see an image thumbnail but no URL path or image name created.

    <div class=”post”>

    <h3>Dante Carver For Japanese mobile phone company Softbank</h3>

    <img src=”” width=”181″ height=”100″ alt=”” />

    <p>

    Any ideas?

    Can’t see any particular differences in the theme for thumbnails.

  • looking at your site it tells me that there’s no index page… maybe you’re working on it right now 😀

    however, I’m quite sure you know that you should assign a thumbnail to a post in order for the theme to show it, don’t you?! 😀

    You can do it inside the same page where you write your posts, you should see a link at the bottom of the right sidebar that tells you to add a thumbnail…

    Thanks. Yes, I just had the white screen kiss of death and had to re-install from scratch. Lost about 5 days of posts.
    I have a different theme on there now.
    Will have a look at that and see if I can do what you suggest.

    A bit scared to switch themes again right now as there may be a bug with the latest version that is causing the white screens. It happened on 2 of my sites tonight and had no choice but to use back ups to re-install them.

    Thanks for your reply. I couldn’t see the thumbnail options before (maybe not looking in the right spot).

    Thanks.

    re-installed to the route directory so google will have to re-do al lits work to find me and my pages…

    Just re-installed the Gemer theme but can’t see a thumbnail option anywhere….

    Will have a look at adding in html for it in the post… but thought it should be more automatic… ??

    Played around for an hour and couldn’t find anything. Installed a thumbnail plug in and it gave an error… ‘this theme doesn’t support thumbnails’.

    Maybe it doesn’t. The theme ‘Gemer’ may be making it’s own version of thumbnails.
    For now I’ve installed a theme I’m more familiar with even though I’d like to use Gemer instead if I can get it working properly.

    I saw on the Japanese version of Wordpess that somebody had the same problem with the theme and they fixed it via php.

    hi, you should add thumbnails support to your functions.php theme file 😉

    it’s easy, look here… Have a look at the external resources linked on that page, they explains very well a lot of “tricks” for adding and using post thumbnails… 😉

    Thanks… will look at that… may need a bit of time as my brain is fried after all the problems I had today…

    Hi, I have the same problem with the thumbnails. WP 2.8.3. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    @koffer:
    look at the link I posted in my previous reply, it’s really easy to add support for post thumbnails.. however, you should upgrade your WordPress install, 2.8.3 it’s a bit outdated 😉

    Thank you! But i don’t know where i have to insert for example this:

    I want to use the Gemer 1.0.2 Theme.
