Thumbnail to full picture

    How do you create a custom thumbnail in WordPress 2.7 with a width of 500px and allow users to click it to view the full sized image?

    Please tell me this is possible because I am currently using the Flexible Upload plugin which only works well with WordPress 2.6.5.
