Thumbnail slider gallery without the main image?

I’m new at this. My developer has given me the task of finding a gallery plugin that displays images across the page (5-6 across), auto slides, allows for an unlimited number of source images, and displays randomly. It’s sort of like a gallery slideshow displaying the thumbnails, but not the main image.

I’ve searched for hours and may have a few plugins that might work. Thought I’d reach out to the community for suggestions.

If you don’t know of a plugin, maybe you have some tips on how to search for one?
