Support » Plugin: WordPress Popular Posts » Thumbnail Size Differs Between Live and Backend

  • Hi, the thumbnails on my live site are much bigger than the size I have set in the shortcode:
    thumbnail_width=142 thumbnail_height=8

The sizes actually look okay on the page when I view it in the backend with Elementor. But on live site, it looks different.

Please advise what I can do, thanks!

  • Hi, just to provide some additional information. They used to look okay, not sure what happened. Could be recent updates.

    Hi @edheng,

Just had a look at your homepage and I see that WPP’s thumbnails are 142px x 80px (was thumbnail_height=8 a typo?)

So what exactly do you mean with “different”?

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes, they look okay on your screen. Not sure why it’s different on my end. You can view what I am seeing here.

I’ve already purged cache but still seeing this.

Likely a cache issue. Try using a different browser or check your site via Incognito Mode.

Hi, I thought so too but I’ve used other devices and incognito mode. I also used hard refresh (ctrl + F5) in incognito mode which would refresh the cache but the issue still appears.

I see. Well, since I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue (and that I had never visited the website before) IMO this is either a cache issue, an styling issue, or a combination of both. Only someone with full access to the site can determine what’s going on and so it might be a good idea to get a developer to look into this for you.

Yes, it is odd indeed that the issue does not happen on your end.

I have full access to the site, but this seems like a plugin issue than a site styling issue. Especially when it used to work fine.

If it was a plugin issue, as you mention, I would have seen the same problem on my computer but it wasn’t the case.

You really should consider reaching out to your regular developer (or hire one if you don’t have a regular dev or if they’re not available at the moment) so they can help you debug the issue.

Alright, thanks Hector. Will see what I can do. If there are more reports of this from other users, or if the cause and solution is identified, please let me know.

    Thanks!
