# Thumbnail problem with theme

 * Hello,
 * I’ll state upfront that I’m using a paid theme (deepfocus by elegantthemes). 
   But I’m not getting adequate support from them. They’re pushing back saying what
   I’m asking for is a theme customization. But clearly, things broke when I updated
   theme version.
 * After upgrading theme version to latest, the homepage featured slider became 
   bigger and the gallery thumbnails for vertical (portrait oriented) images started
   to appear stretched. I searched around their forum and found some related topics
   where it was suggested to use the regenerate thumbnails plugin. I ran the plugin
   on all images. However, nothing got fixed. Homepage featured slider still changes
   sizes for each image as it cycles through. Thumbnails in gallery still appear
   stretched.
 * On digging a bit, I found that proper thumbnails are not getting picked up for
   all images. Here’s an example of img src code from gallery page: ([http://photomithra.in/category/showcase/](http://photomithra.in/category/showcase/))
 * A good one looks like this – its picking up the 207X136 size thumbnail’s URL:

 * A bad one looks like this – its picking up the original image’s URL to be used
   as thumbnail:

 * I’ve verified that all necessary thumbnails are physically present on my hosting
   storage. Is this a theme problem? If so, any idea how it can be fixed?
 * Apologize once again for posting query related to a paid theme. Just hoping to
   get some answers.

 * I just looked at your home page and it looks fine, i mean no images seemed to
   be stretched.

 * Thanks a lot for the response.
 * Problem with homepage is that featured slider is changing sizes for every image.
   It should ideally pick up 960X447 sized thumbnail version. Its picking up that
   size for some images but not for all. You can see this if you view page source.
   Similar problem with gallery page as well.

 * Did you look at how the thumbnails are named and see if they have odd differences
   for making the theme to pick the odd sizes?

 * Yes – double checked again. All necessary thumbnail files are present in the 
   same directory as the original image

 * Surprisingly your homepage seems to be fine now. Did you change something? How
   did you fix them ?

 * Yes – homepage looks fine now. Though, there’s one image on the featured slider
   that looks stretched (again, picking the full sized image instead of thumbnail
   version).
 * I had to run the regenerate thumbnails plugin multiple times. Each time, the 
   problem would get partially fixed (some images started appearing right, but some
   continue to pose problems). Till today, I’ve run the plugin about 5 times! Not
   sure what is the significance of this behavior? Also, not comfortable knowing
   that I still do not know what the problem was!
