Support » Networking WordPress » Thumbnail not showing up, cant access the multisite dashboard

  • Hey guys,

    Im new here and this is the firs multi site that I’ve created.

    The site is fully functioning right now but the thumbnail and images for post is not showing up.

    and also, when I’m trying to access my network admin in the backend to see the dashboard, it’s not letting me. “The page isn’t redirecting properly.
    ” Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”

    my site uses a subdomain.
    site

    my .htaccess

    # protect the htaccess file
    <files .htaccess>
    order allow,deny
    deny from all
    </files>

    # disable the server signature
    ServerSignature Off

    # protect wpconfig.php
    <files wp-config.php>
    order allow,deny
    deny from all
    </files>

    #custom error docs
    ErrorDocument 404 /notfound.php
    ErrorDocument 403 /forbidden.php
    ErrorDocument 500 /error.php

    # disable directory browsing
    Options All -Indexes

    # protect from spam comments
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^dreamdealsnaija\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.dreamdealsnaija.com/$1 [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} POST
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} .wp-comments-post\.php*
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !.*dreamdealsnaija.com.* [OR]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^$
    RewriteRule (.*) ^http://%{REMOTE_ADDR}/$ [R=301,L]

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d

  • Try commenting OUT these lines:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^dreamdealsnaija\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.dreamdealsnaija.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    So delete those lines?

    Or put a # in front of them (i.e. comment them out).

    When you have a complex .htaccess, the first test is to pare it down.

    still not working. tried deleting it and still not able to access the admin multisite dashboard

    oooppsss.. tried commenting it out

    still not able to get there.

    Okay, lets go hard core.

    Rename your .htaccess to OLD.htaccess

    Make a new one with JUST this:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    no good! 🙁
    it’s driving me nuts!

    Acutally that is good!

    Check in your httpd.conf file and see if allowoverride is set to ALL?

    where do I find this??

    Looks like your site is being fronted by Varnish/NGINX…

    So you know what the setup is on your actual web server? Depeding on if it’s Ubuntu/CentOS/etc. will be the answer to where the httpd.conf is.

    omg. I have no Idea about this. Is it better that I make a new install instead? We haven’t put a lot of contents on it, just the styling of the theme and custom splash page.

    You could do that, but I don’t think that will solve this problem regarding thumbnails and images…

    ohhh.. How can I fix that? Maybe a detailed thing I can ask the hosting company.

    because I setup the same site on a different server.
    dailydeals.f-stopseo.com
    and it’s working flawlessly.
    now when I installed to the other server, it wont pull up the images.

    Ask the hosting company if httpd.conf has allowoverride set to all on the new server.
