Thumbnail images are not scaling – they are being cropped

We upgraded the WPEC plugin from 3.8.9.2 to 3.8.9.5.

When the client now adds a product image the thumbnail is cropped rather than scaled to size.

Thumbnails are set to scale in the Presentation tab in the Store settings and haven’t been updated during the upgrade.

I checked the code in wpsc-includes/ajax.functions.php and wpsc-includes/misc.functions.php and the new scaling code that was introduced with 3.8.9 is there.

Something else is interfering with the product image thumbnail scaling.

I tried to re-edit the image thumbnail by cropping full width and height but that didn’t work either.

I’ve also tried to resave the store settings, but no change.

No additional plugins or changes have been added to the site – the only thing done was upgrade the WPEC plugin to 3.8.9.5

See the related product on the same page for a pre-3.8.9.5 product image. That one has been scaled.

Can somebody look into this and see if they can replicate the issue?
