 * Hello. I was wondering if there is a setting to change the size of the thumbnails
   for each gallery. At 60-90k a piece, that can really add up to a lot. (ie. for
   an 82 image gallery, the thumbnails add up to over 5 mb and that slows the load
   time down a lot.) And we are wanting to keep all of the thumbnails on the same
   page instead of splitting them up.
 * Not that I want to do this every image that I upload, but I could pull each image
   off the server and re-save if that’s possible and there’s no other option.
 * Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 * Hi [@dsb0328](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dsb0328/),
 * I would be happy to help.
    You can try to use Imagify in order to optimize the
   images and respectively reduce the images’ size [https://imagify.io/documentation/optimize-images-nextgen-gallery/](https://imagify.io/documentation/optimize-images-nextgen-gallery/)
 * Best Regards,

 * Use EWWW Image Optimizer in combination with NGG. I do use it and it’s working
   great. Shane Bishop (the dev of said plugin) does an excellent job. 🙂

 * Thanks for both of these suggestions. I tried the Imagify already, but unfortunately
   I have way more images than the free version allows and I’m not sure if it really
   did much to help the problem anyway. I’ll go ahead and try the EWWW plugin next.

 * Hi [@dsb0328](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dsb0328/)!
 * 1.- Check your image sizes: The larger your images, the more dramatic the difference.
   We would suggest optimizing your images for the web by resizing them to 960px.
 * 2.- Check the first load vs subsequent load. Could you confirm whether or not
   after reloading your page with your gallery, if opening it up again in a different
   browser helps?
 * 3.- Remove any plugins you don’t need. Consider deactivating Jetpack, which together
   with NG for some reason seems to slow performance. A good plugin I would suggest
   to install to help you identify the larger plugins that use a lot of server resources:
   P3 Plugin Profiler (NextGEN will be one of them, because it is a large plugin,
   but it will help you identify others that you might consider deactivating and
   removing if you aren’t using them).
 * 4.- Optimize Your Database & Remove ‘Bloat’. Install and use WP-Optimize to help
   optimize your database tables and remove ‘bloat’ from your site (i.e. page &
   post revisions, spam comments).
 * Install a caching plugin. Some highly rated ones are: W3 Total Cache or WP Super
   Cache.
 * Please keep us posted!

 * Because it has been a month or more since your last reply, I am going to mark
   this as resolved as I assume you have found a solution.
    Please feel free to
   reply again if you still have questions.
 * Thanks!
