Support » Plugin: WPBook Lite » Thumbnail displayed with FB post

Previously you answered a question about how to select the image used when a blog post is posted on Facebook by saying:

If you are posting as posts or as notes, use WordPress’ built in “Featured Images” to identify which image WPBook should post.

That works, but it also adds an extra image to my WP post that I don’t want. As a workaround, I can create the WP post, select the Featured Image and Publish. This gets the WP post on FB with the correct thumbnail. Then I go back to WP, remove the Featured Image, and update.

Is there a less cumbersome method to do this?

You don’t have to have the image in your post in order for it to be the featured image.

Is your theme automatically showing the “Featured image”? Just setting a featured image by default does not add that image to the post in WordPress.

There isn’t really any shorter way in the current release.

If you disable featured images (which you can do just by adding a line to your theme’s functions.php file) then WPBook will try to find the first image “attached” to the post.

I suppose you could edit your local copy of WPBook to make it not look for featured images first, but then you’ll have to maintain that forked copy across versions.
