# Three 1.0 Install Problems

 * Hey guys,
    First time playing with WordPress so excuse me if I ask something 
   stupid. I’ve been waiting for 1.0 before I dug in. Here are the problems I’m 
   having: 1) Archives not being written, have checked in FTP. Using /archives/%
   year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ for permalink structure. Proper mod_rewrite
   rules are in .htaccess file. 2) Default post status set to Publish, yet when 
   I click on Advanced Editing in the Post window, Post status is set to Draft. 
   3) When I edit an existing post and click Publish, sometimes a new empty post
   is created. Thanks in advance for any help or insight.

 * Here’s what I know.
    1) Those archives are actually <i>still being called</i>
   from the database. The “Proper mod_rewrite rules are in .htaccess file” only 
   translates the urls to make WordPress get it as index.php?p=10 or whatever. No
   actual files are being written. That’s all. I don’t know the other two issues.
