This weekend I moved my wordpress.com blog (http://corrinejackson.wordpress.com) to a godaddy self-hosted wordpress.org blog at my domain http://www.corrinejackson.com. Everything went perfectly, including importing my XML file and setting up my plug ins.

Then, I tried to map my wordpress.com domain so it would redirect to my new domain. I did the following:

    1. Added my new domain to wordpress.com blog.
    2. Changed my new domain nameservers to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    3. Made my new domain the primary on wordpress.com
    4. Changed my new domain nameservers back to the original names.

Problem: Now both my wordpress.com blog and my new domain (corrinejackson.com) have the error message: This website is temporarily unavailable, please try again later. Plus I can’t access my wp-admin for my new domain. I’m pretty new to this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • you need to delete the godaddy index.html file so wordpress’ index.php can work

Thanks, samboll. Godaddy helped me fix the problem. I didn’t have an index.php file and had to create one. I’d set up the forwarding wrong and my site was stuck in a loop.
