• We’ve used TEC on hundreds of sites we built, for many years. It was always a safe bet.

    But the 6.0 release has hosed down nearly every site we had with a calendar of events. Data stopped showing, orders reversed, migrations of data get stuck. I’ve had to spend hundreds of dollars (unbillable) to pay my developer to fix it all. And then every time we think it’s fixed, another incremental “upgrade” happens, and breaks it all again.

    We’re done with TEC. I don’t know what we will use, but I refuse to install it on another site.

    I know, I know… it’s our fault. Always is.

  • They can do this to people cause the other options out their don’t match. Indeed an opening for someone to create some competition in this arena for sure.

    Yep. We are searching for another solution for sure – we’ll have to replace it on over 100 sites. But if another solution is stable, it’s worth it.

    Sadly, we used AIOEC many years ago, and they went through similar problems, and we had to move away from them. It was the same scenario. They released an “upgrade” that pretty much killed the product for us.

    Thank you for leaving a review for The Events Calendar. I’m sorry to read about your troubles with the most recent update.

    6.0 was a major overhaul of The Events Calendar (and Events Calendar Pro). Many things have changed in the background, which makes the calendar perform better and opens the door for some exciting features.

    Despite our best efforts and rigorous testing, not all updates and migrations were smooth. Since the release, our team has worked hard and made good progress in ironing out the still-existing issues.
    If you are still having issues, please open a support ticket here, if you are a free user, or here, if you are a premium user, and we’ll be happy to help.

    If you still have sites that are not updated, we recommend testing the updates on a staging site first to see if everything works well.

    @aguseo We’ve actually been working Santiago on one of the sites, and while he has been stellar in his support and work, this simply should not have happened.

    Just today I am dealing with 6.0.6.1 which has once again broken almost all the sites in which we run TEC. We’ve lost revenue with dozens of hours of time spent making fixes, nursing migrations along, and dealing with angry customers. (50+ sites have this calendar installed.)

    Worse, it has made us look bad in our community, as we manage many high visibility websites. This is going to cost us significant business.

    I don’t care how slick and “helpful” the new system is, there is no way that ANY features offered can mitigate what I’ve had to go through since the 6.0 release.

    Unfortunately the calendar is too integrated into some hi visibility sites to just dump it. We’ll be forced to rework sites to use another calendar – more lost development time.

    This upgrade is the “New Coke” for The Events Calendar.
