  • Hi,

    I’m hoping someone might be able to help me with this issue.

    I’d be using this site absolutely fine (last confirmed date used 3 Nov) but went to log on the other day to add a new blog post but it no longer loads (neither the actual website nor the wp-admin).

    I’ve tried accessing via two different laptops, two different phones, three different browsers. I can access via mobile data (4g) and also tried at my neighbour’s house who use BT as their provider. We use Zen.

    No known changes have been made to our router settings. As far as I know, no updates made to our WP site (I say our, as it is used by two users, myself and the person who set it up). I’ve asked them to check the plugins and they have deactivated all but five which they deem necessary. Should we try disabling all and then check one by one to eliminate any potential issues?

    I get the error ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT when I try to connect it.

    Any suggestions would be greatly received as I’ve spent the best part of the day trying to resolve this with no luck.

    Since your site can be seen/accessed by others, it’s either your internet connection or hosting provider. There are some more steps you can follow: https://wordpress.org/support/article/common-wordpress-errors/#connection-timed-out

    I believe we’ve narrowed it down to WP blocking our IP address for some reason. So my question now is how do I unblock this please?

    There appears to be no ‘security’ option in the menu of WP to select, as from what I have read this is where I’d need to go to find blocked IP addresses.

    Did you follow the instructions in the link I posted? The first step would be to deactivate all plugins and try again.

    What are you seeing that leads you to believe that WP is blocking your IP address? It’s possible after several failed login attempts, but that would be temporary. It’s also not consistent with the error message you’re getting, which sounds more like a memory restriction from your provider, which may mean a plugin is likely causing the issue.
