I am just trying to establish that myself…
Hah, fair enough.
Since we are currently using this widget in our themes, should we simply create a custom version or did you remove it because of a technical restriction?

It was removed without my consent unfortunately and it will not be re-instated to the .org repository due to the approach the plugin uses for obtaining data.
In the meantime you can use the version from GitHub: https://github.com/scottsweb/wp-instagram-widget
Any chance you’ll add support for https://github.com/afragen/github-updater to automate updates?
What a shame :-/ But thanks for keeping the plugin alive on github!

If it helps, since we’ve been using this plugin for a while as I said with our themes, we could help with the maintenance / support of the plugin. Just something to consider 🙂

I’m trying to understand if the plugin is safe to use or there are any security/privacy issues.

@luisgv Sure thing. The plugin is safe to use and there are no security or privacy issues. In many ways this plugin will be better for both your and your visitors privacy.
The concern raised by the WordPress.org plugin moderation team is that the plugin is scraping the Instagram website. This is most likely a violation of the Instagram terms of service, so if that is a concern for you, you should not use the plugin.

@scottsweb what do we do now? the plugin is running on the development site http://www.kidz.landmart.co.ke but on the client site http://www.kidzkulture.com after transferring it is not working. showing the error instagram did not return 200. please advice. TIA
