• This entire plugin has been geared towards capturing email addresses. There is no way of testing the plugin unless you give away your email. Emailed the plugin owner a number of times with a request to close my account and remove my email address from his database. No amount of begging helped. Received vague and manipulative answers.

    @ceye This plugin is a service, which means they need an account to process the images, among other things. Of course they need your email there.

    @smartersite I’ve removed the mod look on this post. I recommend you look into making sure you can fully delete accounts, as there are laws that require you to be able to do so.

    @ipstenu yes, we have that in place and respond directly via chat support or email and process requests typically within 24 hours to do so if not instantly!

    @ceye if you can please reach out to chat support and let us know what account you’d like deleted I can make sure it’s done so within 24 hours, if not sooner!

    That’s incorrect. Here’s what you could have done, but still have not.

    • You can explain why you need their emails
    • You can explain how to properly request an account be deleted on your site
    • You could correct their misunderstandings as to the difference between a required account and ‘capturing’ emails
    • You could kindly educate them

    But you didn’t do any of that. Instead you flagged the post for moderator attention, and you’re now upset that here is a moderator telling you that we’re not deleting it.

    You’re right, this is a harsh and unkind and factually incorrect post.

    If we delete it, though, nothing changes. Someone’s having a bad experience, and you’re giving them a song and dance instead of directly (and kindly) correcting their misunderstandings, and educating them as to why the account is needed and how to delete it.

    Given a quick look at your site, you have no documentation at all about usage privacy or account management. So you should get on that ASAP to protect yourself. If someone can’t easily figure out how to delete an account, you need to correct that promptly. That’s your responsibility.

    Stop accusing them. Start helping them 🙂

    We have that via full live chat support and happen to be very friendly there! They can reach out at any time and we’ll be happy to help!

    Privacy and account policies are located on the app portal aspect, the main website has no direct logins – https://app.wpcompress.com/login/

    I’m happy to help further, but don’t think a publicly negative review is the place to sort something like this out, where in fact we’d need their email to do so and I know for a fact they won’t want to post that here 😉

    When being attacked and falsely accused of fake reviews, from loyal loving users as well as providing a top notch service for 3+ years, we’re taken aback by such a negative and insensitive review!

    As mentioned, we DO already delete all emails upon request from any newsletters and delete all linked sites, then the email is in queue for deletion from the databases.

    @ipstenu, thank you for all of your help, I don’t think a publicly negative review is a great place to look for assistance, hence the flag – and we’re not intending to give “song and dance” we have a dedicated live chat support area that converts to tickets if no one is available and aim to be much more than friendly!!!

    We help first always, but if out of the gate are getting accused publicly, after all of the hard work we put in day in and day out, it seems to come out a little standoffish – when in all reality we help on dedicated support channels and I’ve mentioned that in the first post – I’m unable to help with a username and no user details on this with an account created today from the user, but happy to look it up in our system via the private support system we have in place in which they can provide the needed credentials to assist 🙂

    I have contacted someone called James by email several times with a friendly request to remove my account. Whoever is behind this plugin I have no doubt that you might have needed my email for your service to function properly. However, I didn’t question why you needed my email address, my request to you was to respect my privacy and remove my account entirely. Whatever your argument may be, how come I can still log in my account and my email shows on the screen and how come you haven’t provided an option to unsubscribe from your list and remove my account on my end? Yes, when I contacted you you promised to unsubscribe me however why is my account still online? What does it take to have it removed? I’ve still got the transcripts of our email conversation. If you are interested I can forward them to you. Btw, to my very last email, you didn’t even bother to respond.

    @smartersite This is the advise I provide plugin authors.

    There are (now) 4 people in this conversation. One of them is a “company” account and has a reputation to consider. It’s not the moderators and it’s not the reviewer/

    Before you reply, I urge you to consider that 1 star reviews here do not mean anything at all. Not a thing.

    It’s just feedback for open source plugins. If you’re using it for more than that then you are making a critical business mistake. Yes, people do read the 1 star reviews but they care more for how and author replies to that review.

    Your good, even responses are what cause people to consider your plugin. Please read this part.
