  • Sadly it says more about you than it does the plugin.

Anything that is free is only free because the developers want you to sample it and hopefully upgrade to the full version.

Take the time to read the instructions and the limitations and the reviews and then practice to see what is possible and what is not in the free version.

This plugin is one of the best there is for tables in WordPress. Don’t take my word for it … see the hundreds of positive reviews.

The developers will be more diplomatic in their answer .. my answer simply tells you are wrong.

Absolutely agree. This plugin is useless without upgrading to the paid version and it has no place in the plugins repo. Reporting it to Automattic.

Nothing more to be said about negative comments and report all you like but sadly you are missing out on a super plugin. Happy hunting for something better !!!!!!!!!!

    Hi @djixas, @martinsotirov

Thank you for your honest opinion and sorry to hear your frustration.

We understand the reason why you may think there’s “no use” for the free version of the plugin is because some specific feature or use case that you‘re looking for is not available in the plugin hosted here, while it is available in the paid version.

Nevertheless, the free version of the plugin does provide useful functionalities and has a lot of built-in features, among which:

    • Creating online sortable/searchable tables in the website frontend from uploaded Excel spreadsheets.
    • Creating online sortable/searchable tables from uploaded (or linked) CSV files.
    • Creating online sortable/searchable tables from uploaded (or linked) JSON files or streams.
    • Creating online sortable/searchable tables from uploaded (or linked) XML files or streams.
    • Creating online sortable/searchable tables from uploaded (or linked) serialized PHP arrays output.
    • Creating interactive Line charts from the table data.
    • Creating interactive Column charts from the table data.
    • Creating interactive Pie charts from the table data.

As different data types in the tables require different display/render and sorting rules, multiple data and column types are supported: String, Integer, Float, Date, DateTime, Time, Image, URL Link, Email link.

As you can see, the feature list is clearly far from what can be called “nothing works” or “useless”. This point can further be proven by the number of active installations (30,000+). We saw many websites that rely fully on the free wpDataTables version to render literally thousands of tables for different product specifications.

We understand not being able to solve the desired task with free tools might be frustrating. That’s why the features AND limitations are fully and transparently stated in the plugin repo’s homepage so that anyone could check if the plugin matches his/her requirements.

Also, we provide an online fully-featured sandbox where the non-included features can be tried out.

Finally, for selected non-profit, educational, charity organizations we provide our tools for free to help with their missions.

Please let us know if we can help you in any way, and we wish you the best with your projects.

Thanks, @alexanderweb so much for your support as always! 🙂

No matter how you spin it, the free version is extremely limited and that can be seen in the reviews you get.

If you want to sell a premium plugin, then do it outside of the plugins repo like Gravity Forms, WPRocket, WPML and many other great premium plugins.

If you insist on being included in the WP Plugins Repo, look at Advanced Custom Fields or Yoast for how to do an actually useful free version.

Thanks Support … will always back the plugin because it is good.

Cannot believe why anyone wants to rubbish something just for the lack of reading the documentation or looking at a video or two which are very good by the way and helpful.

If I try a plugin and it does not do the job for me …it’s gone and my search goes on …

Why waste time and energy on negative feedback as the damage is already done!!!

    Alexander
