THIS IS A STORY OF HOW MVP DESTROYS A BRAND.

We bought a license for Events Calendar Pro. We’re regretting it now. Awful. Bugs at every turn. Horrible backend UI. Here are just a few of the things we’ve run into:

1.) Backend: Setup and management of recurring events… constant bugs (3mos+) error alerts on edit() (“…has been deleted”) but series is alive and well on backend. No solution in sight.
2.) Block Editor/Event List: Most of the block widgets that should help speed up placement of event list views offer horrible UI (events list widget placed in a Post; Add/Delete buttons found in widget can’t be accessed as they are not responsive forcing use of shortcode)
3.) Front-end/CSS: Flyout toggle menu for changing event view to month, list, summary or day has no background; lots of front-end CSS issues that need to be addressed with custom CSS, hard-coded height values for containers with variable content
4.) Support: You get a different support agent for every bug you enter. While they are responsive, they’ve done very little to address our issues (which there are many). Each agent will likely want Admin access to your backend (so they aren’t talking to each other or sharing information; it’s all a one-off type of situation). You’ll need to copy/paste your system info because the ability to “share” this with them through the backend interface is broken (checkbox to opt-in to share doesn’t remain checked)
5.) Shortcodes: Broken parameters (e.g. phone number always appears when using [tribe_events_list venue=”yes” organizer=”yes” category=”10am-all-ages-sunday-school” limit=”3″]; by default the phone number should not appear but it does; even when explicitly adding phone=”no” the phone number appears)
6.) Backend / Venue Setup: There are two options… to use the physical address or Lat/Long values. If you add Latitude/Longitude values to the address, the Google map link will always resolve to the Lat/Long url string even if the checkbox is unchecked. The Lat/Long values must be manually removed from Lat/Long input boxes to ensure the link uses physical address options rendering the checkbox moote.

This is a short list of headaches we purchased from them. AT EVERY SINGLE TURN, WE’VE EXPERIENCE DISAPPOINTMENT AND HAD TO WASTE TIME REPORTING AND FIXING THEIR ISSUES. THIS PLUGIN IS EXHAUSTING TO WORK WITH. OUR PROJECT GO-LIVE DATE HAS BEEN POSTPONED TWICE AND NEW ISSUES THIS MORNING SUGGEST WE’LL NEED TO CONSIDER A THIRD POSTPONEMENT.

THIS IS A STORY OF HOW MVP DESTROYS A BRAND. THIS GROUP SHOULD STOP WORRYING ABOUT BUILDING AN ECOSYSTEM OF CONNECTED PRODUCTS AND GET BACK TO BASICS FOR THEIR CORE FUNCTIONALITY. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED.
