    Where is the option to stop you automatically updating my install of WordPress each night? I am happy to beta test but I didn't agree to you updating the install every day without asking - it's not at all great that you helped yourself to this ability without notice BTW :( - and I would like to just do it manually when it suits me.

    If that isn't possible then how do I leave the beta testing programme?

    At the present time, there are no automatic updates...

  3. If you're on 3.7, it DOES auto-update. It's supposed to :) If you're running a beta without keeping up on the http://make.wordpress.org/core/ posts, you're in for a baaad time.

    Read http://make.wordpress.org/core/2013/09/24/automatic-core-updates/

    Directions on disabling are there, but ... there should be no harm in auto-updating.

    Does that include the nightlies?

  5. Yep.

    As of [25598] WordPress 3.7+ installs will begin updating themselves without the need of user input every time a new security release has been released, or in the case of all us development users, it’ll update daily to the latest nightly if possible.

    So basically once you hit 3.7, you get auto updates.

    I have successfully switched automatic updates off by adding this to the wp-config.php file.

    /* Switch off Automatic Updates */
    define('AUTOMATIC_UPDATER_DISABLED', true);
    define('WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', false);
