Heya
There’s something rather weird with this forum. On Window MSIE, linux-Opera or linux-Konqueror, nothing special.
But when I use Firefox (on linux), my CPU is nearly 100% busy with it, and the mouse cursor keeps “flashing” as if it was computing amazing amount of data. On any other site, FF doesnt hog my CPU, it’s just this forum.

Yesterday Matt asked on IRC if anyone was noticing something strange with FF & Windows. Not sure it went ok or not, since my Windows box is much more powerfull than my Linux box and I may have not notice it slowing down. But this morning I just can’t use linux Firefox with the forum.
Anyone noticing same kind of weirdness ?

disable images when you visit wp support.

but wouldn’t that disable images in the whole browser? or should i just block all images frm here?

the image manager in firefox 0.8 doesn’t seem to be enabled, so yes disabling images will affect the whole browser. just re-enable images once you leave the wp forums to view images at other sites.

Must be machine specific. I use FF 0.8 and have none of the characteristics y’all are describing.

XP Home and FireFox 0.8.
I thought I had picked up a virus last night – XP was memory swapping/disk writing like crazy last night!
I then went back to IE and had no problems. Guessed it was Firefox – good to see this ‘confirmed’ by other users.

Sounds like this prob can be seen only with FF 0.8 at WinXP… Something with images… And as I’ve said before I think it’s bg’s fault

Mozilla 1.6 on XP Home has these same symptoms. Very odd.
I do also notice in IE6 that the top image (the WordPress logo) flashes as I mouse over the menu area and the image area. So there appears to be some affects in IE as well.

ok dont know what was changed… the forum works so much better now and varies in cpu usage 7-60%. it is not lagging any more… much much better!!!

I’m running Windows XP Pro and Firefox 0.8. I’ve never had any problems with this site.
