This editor is ten steps backwards. Forgets the majority userbase
-
I volunteer at a local school and help them maintain a community website (uses WordPress) where kids publish everyday. I introduced them the new editor just to know if they are comfortable with it. Teachers and children; all most everyone found gutenberg editor confusing and I quote, ‘messy’, ‘this is hard’, ‘confusing’.
They feel the existing editor to be more user friendly and easy to use. I feel the same (I work for a publishing company that uses WordPress too).
This is a fine example of bad software design, where something is forced to the majority of the users just to gratify a minor percent of the total userbase.
Please do a survey before you consider adding this to the core. I highly recommend the wordpress team to consider the majority user base. Please leave it as a plugin where everyone can get what they want.
