“This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

At some point within the past 2-3 weeks, Postie started behaving oddly.
Emails are fetched correctly – either on the 2-hour schedule or when I manually check for emails.
The post category is assigned correctly, and the subject line is correctly assigned as the post title.
When I look at the list of pending posts in the admin interface, I see the first part of the content of the email as the automatically-generated excerpt, but when I open the post for editing, all I see is a Classic block that says:
This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.
I’ve tested this with 3 different emails that are authorized to use Postie, and some varieties of content – plain text, formatted text, bulleted lists. The actual content doesn’t seem to matter. I see it in the auto-excerpt, but not in the editing interface.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting this?
