I realized that my block filters (or extensions I’ve heard them called too) weren’t working after I installed Block Visibility.

Is that just how block filters work: if there’s more than one targeting the same block, only one will affect the block?

Your plugin is wonderful, so thank you! I’m just figuring out whether I can use it since I use (lots of) filters on my blocks.

    Hi @bethalessi,

Thank you for reaching out. Can you share some more information about the “block filters” that you are using and what is specifically not working? That will allow me to attempt to replicate the issues on my end.

    Thanks,
    Nick

Sure. Here’s a link to an example block filter I use, which adds a class to the block: https://gist.github.com/fatesallow/bc13a47f79b76979592a80a16300465a

When I use Block Visibility’s block manager page and turn it OFF for the paragraph block, my block filter works: It has a toggle that adds a class to the block. When I turn it back ON for the paragraph block, the toggle component shows, but it doesn’t add a class to the block.

The block visibility control works, but there’s a conflict with the block filter. I thought maybe when two block filters target the same block, one gets canceled?? I have no idea. 🙂

Thank you for providing the additional info. This issue was actually just reported earlier today on GitHub! The coincidence is amazing, considering this bug has existed in Block Visibility for years and was only just caught and reported!

The patch has been applied and will be included in a fresh release later this week. I will test with the code you provided to ensure everything is working properly.

I’ll follow up once the release is public and ready for download.

    Best,

The latest release (v2.5.3) should resolve the issue for you. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Unbelievably fast! I tested and everything works. I’m already looking at adding the pro version to my setup for clients. Thank you!
