I need help with my WordPress account. Until today everything has been fine, but now when I go to my login page for admin I type in my username and password and it says my information is invalid. So I try again and it says the same thing. So then I request a password change and it says "There is no user registered with that email address". I know for certain that this is the proper email address, username, and password, and this email address was the one used when I setup my WordPress account. Why is this happening? Please help.

Someone had this issue a while back on this forum and they were told to go here:

I did this, and the only option I could see that would allow you reset your password without being able to login is to create the emergency.php file in the specified directory and then open the file in the browser, which I did. When I did this it prompted me to enter the admin name and the desired new password. This did not work because apparently my admin name is not "admin" or any other name which I would have chosen. So needless to say, it did not work. And now I am out of ideas and freaking out. Someone please help me. I wish that WordPress had a way to contact them because surely this is an easy fix for them.

Any help would be insanely appreciate. Thank you ahead of time.

Try doing it through phpMyAdmin. Most hosting ervers have this installed, and it is by far the easiest way to do it.

THANK YOU a thousand times over. Thanks for the response. That seems to have worked. It seems like my site must have been somehow hacked because my admin username and password were changed to something I would never have chosen. I changed it all and now it works. I guess I better change passwords for everything now.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really appreciate the help. You are awesome.

If your site has been hacked, then whoever did it will still be able to get back in and do the same thing again unless you've plugged the hole that let them in in the first place.

As the standard help goes for this situation:

If your site has been hacked, you need to start working your way through these resources:

Anything less will probably result in the hacker walking straight back into your site again.

Well I suppose I didn't think about that because, although I am savvy enough to go through the steps to have fixed this problem, and do a good amount of computer things, I am not an expert by an any stretch. I have already changed the security keys to all of my sites, am in the process of changing the passwords, and I will certainly go through all of this documentation. Thank you again. It is definitely nice to have knowledgable people to help. I really really appreciate it.

@Anand Doesn't look like that e-mail address is registered with this site.
