• I have a question about this plugin – I hope someone can help or clarify. And apologies if this is already answered in the forum…

I want to use this plugin for subdomains to enable network sites to see common themes, plugins and other features. Eg. sites that are part of network1 can only see and access theme 1, 2 and 3. I don’t necessarily want to map the subdomains to a TLD. I have managed to get this working okay.

The problem is with site creation – if they register as part of this network/subdomain they become xyz.subdomain.domain.com. Can someone tell me if there is a way to get the registration of new sites to take place at the original domain AND still keep the site as a member of the subdomain network? Or am I doing this all wrong – ie. do I have to use domain mapping to a TLD?

Thanks for any help anyone could offer…

    Hi rickyclark –

Thanks for your interest! Unfortunately, site creation and selection are tied to the domain and path of the network, so you’ll probably need to use domain mapping to accomplish what you want.

You could TRY manually changing the site_id in your wp_blogs table, but I’m not at all sure that would work. Needless to say you should only try it if you’re comfortable poking around in the DB and have a recent backup. 🙂

Feel free to send along any follow-up questions.

    – David
