• I have never used any theme except Lugada 2 yet the update to 4.4 seems to have dumped loads of themes on me and Wordfence says I now need to update them all WHY?
    The themes are:
    Twenty Ten
    Twenty Eleven
    Twenty Twelve
    Twenty Thirteen
    Twenty fourteen

  • Those are the WordPress Standard Themes. There is a new one every year. A few days ago. Twenty Sixteen was released. You can delete them if you want to.
    Remember: if wordpress can’t find you activated theme files, is has a fallback to use one of the standard themes. If you delete all those themes, there ist no fallback anymore.

    @pringle Stik,

    In my fresh download of 4.4 I see only 3 default themes, NOT 5 as your post suggests:
    Twentyfourteen
    Twentyfifteen
    Twentysixteen

    That’s because a bew WordPress only comes with the 3 latest standard themes.
    The new standard themes will be installed as soon as the are published but they never get deinstalled automaticly. You have to do this yourself.

    Despite WordPress 4.4 containing default themes, no themes are installed by WordPress updates, this is intentional. If you were already using WordPress, you’ll need to install any theme from Appearance -> Themes -> Add New in your Dashboard.

    Also, you can delete any unused plugins/themes.
