themes are present in search but not to download

I am trying to install themes. I used the search feature on wordpess.org to search and found some I would like to download.

However, when I go to download them to my blog, the install themes function on my blog, and the search feature on wordpress.org both say they don’t exist.

They are:
horisontal
typogriph
jessica fletcher redux
under the influence

How is it they come up in the search feature when not looking specifically for them, but when you want those exact ones, they don’t exist?

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/tag-filter/ Then I checked all the boxes and then clicked “match any of the checkboxes”. I pressed find themes, and the list was long, but that is what I wanted. They were in that list.

It looks like that search includes outdated themes:

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/themescapes-raider

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/under-the-influence

They’re still in the repository – but they won’t show up in your dashboard for downloading/installing because they probably have compatibility problems.

Gosh. Some people’s best work is in these themes. What has to happen to make them compatible and available for download?

Someone would have to go through the code to update and change anything necessary so that it meets WP standards. Then the theme would have to be submitted to the Theme Review process on WordPress.ORG. See this for more: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/about/

I also don’t know what all themes are included on http://wp-themes.com – that might include themes from WordPress.COM too – which is not the same as WordPress.ORG themes.

ok, is there some way I can download the outdated themes to save on my computer? Maybe I can find someone who will help me, maybe even the original authors.

The ones I linked above should download – I didn’t search for others but you can certainly do that :).

I just downloaded all three of the ones on WordPress.ORG – click on the download button – it downloads a zip file to your local computer. What browser are you using?

Oh!! I figured it out. When you right click and open it in a new window, you can’t get a download screen. You have to click on it only in the search window.
