    Hi all

So i created a new network and tried to ” view ” a new subdomain / wild card site http://alabama.nichedeliverysystem.com/ and it dose not have any of my child themes pages and the settings are not the same as the parent word press install. This is not consistent with what word press states in there codex for networks http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

can someone please tell me if i have to create each and every page in every sub domain or did we set this up wrong? if we in-able the theme in the my sites/network admin/dashboard/themes ” network wide enable ” should this then enable the desired theme ? off the parent ? and the settings for the new site should ne cloned no?

can someone tell me how to fix this? PLEASE

I have a new child theme of the 2011 and installed it. The custom pages are missing. Is there a way to package this up to include the pages and custom templates?

We are installing in a network fyi. Also I noticed in the my sites / network admin dash board that the 2011 them is enabled “network wide” should this be disabled if we are using the custom child of that 2011 theme in the master site ? and the network sits ?

Please don’t make multiple posts about the same thing.

Also posting in all caps is shouting 🙂 You don’t need to.

Themes on Multisite must be network activated if you want everyone to be able to see and use them. That’s step one.

    Hi

    aH sorry

as stated the steps where followed to the T with the same outcome. In the docs it states that the main site settings will be network wide if enabled. This is the case. The theme is also network wide but there is 0 pages that we made brought into the theme when enabled network wide. We did try a different theme with the same outcome. Please advise…

Ps the theme works perfect in the main site. http://nichedeliverysystem.com/

    What doc says that?

Main site settings are not propagated network wide.

All settings are per site. Your pages and posts and settings are all per site, unless you have change them with a new blogs default plugin.

ok so if we use a wild card domain ( this has no sub-directory ) unlike a regular sub-domain example:
    http://alabama.nichedeliverysystem.com/

should the theme if enabled network wide and plug ins if enabled network wide be identical in the sub site as they are in the main site if all settings are set the same? The issue is,, currently it looks like the sub site is using the default style sheet not the theme’s ( 2011 )child sheet. The plug ins also are not showing up in the side bar and such.

here is the testing site main site
    nichedeliverysystem.com/

here is the wild card site
    http://alabama.nichedeliverysystem.com/

    see what i mean ?

is there a way to fix this or?

    No.

The plugins should show up, yes, but the theme, unless you’ve changed the default theme in your wp-config file, will always be TwentyEleven, the parent.

If the plugins are truly network activated, they will show up in the sidebar, if that’s what they do.

    Hi

Im in the wp- config file and did not see where to change the default theme can you tell me where or what do i have to add?

for some reason the ” backticks ” will not contain this full code block

    Thread Starter Scott@adszoom

    (@scottadszoom)

I added this to my wp-config file

<?php define( 'WP_DEFAULT_THEME', 'Adszoom' );?> above all the includes and such

Cleared the history on the browser then went to the site we want the new theme on. The default sidebar showing ( not one we made ), and no widgets are showing on home page.

Look and thanks by the way!
Here is what im trying to do before we go further,, I posted the question 1 week ago with 0 response .

I need the sub domains to have there own posts and own directories. I clearly am testing this before we structure it on the live domain with over 50k posts. The other directory option was not offered because its an established site.

The user experience should go like this.
1 they go to the new homepage with city’s and states.
2 they pick there city or state to search or post ( sub-domains )
3 they then register to post or do a search ( no reg for search ).
only results from that region show up in the search, and there post only go’s to that region.

Clearly I could do this via set up sub domains then instal wp on that domain ,then instal theme.

This then presents 1 major issues
Each area / region would have its own log in and would not share the username and password like the network would via wishlist member, or would I have the same issue with the network?

This is what Im trying to avoid. I have contacted the plug in wishlist member support and they said its not supported or recommended!! to have a motile site shared system,,, ie they cant figure it out.

So whats the best way to proceed ? If I use real sub domains not wild cards then instal wp on that domain can the network pick it up and share the plugins some how like a template? This would solve all issues..

Please advise and thanks for the help.

Dude, don’t bump. That’s rude. If you can’t be patient when asking for free, volunteer, help, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Also I deleted your post with all the code because you left passwords, hashes and salts in there. That is insecure.

Did you know that if you googled ‘Change default theme wordpress multisite’ there are scads of hits? 🙂
