Support » Themes and Templates » [Theme:Reddle] Style differences between Firefox and IE

I liked the Reddle theme in so much I considered not moving to as it didn’t exist. Searching through these forums I learned how to download it via SVN and install it to

It looks exactly how I would like it to look in Firefox.

But in Explorer it’s a mess.

    The fonts are wrong.
    The header is left aligned.
    The content background doesn’t expand.
The footer is between the content and sidebar (although in the correct font).
The date circle for posts doesn’t work (although in the .com version it appears as a square)
The left hand margin for the sidebar is wrong.

Other than adding some custom classes for text I have not messed with the code at all. I’m competent at CSS, but new to wordpress code.

I don’t know whether I’ve accidentally deleted something crucial and I don’t want to mess it up in FF (which is what I use) but since most people still use IE I need to get it better looking.

    All advice greatly appreciated.

Ensure each webpage is valid from the W3C validator.

I validated it and there is nothing too glaring. But which version of IE are you using? I looked at it in Adobe Browser Labs — and in IE 9 it looks okay. In IE8, it does have the problems you describe, but that is likely because it’s coded using HTML5 elements, some of which IE8 does not recognize or support. So fixing them may not be simple…but if you want to try, this is a good reference re: browser support:

Thank you both. I was seeing the problems in IE8 and understand why now. Looks like a bit of a sod to fix but will have a look.
