CakBro your response unfortunately is not helpful since I already am aware of where to go to install it. However after 5 attempts to upload the zip file I am getting a response each time “Are you sure you want to do this. Please try again” hence my support request which specifies that I have tried 5 times already to install it and it will not go through.

Maybe let us know more about the theme – where did you download it from? What V of WP are you running? Can you install other themes okay?
Sometimes larger themes can time out depending on your sites/servers memory.
What is the size of the zip file?

It’s Snapshop from theme forest. This is the first I’ve purchased

Apparently my wordpress just updated last night… Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Of course support for the theme is weekdays only… Was really hoping to finish my site this weekend

if you have access to FTP, unzip the theme and upload it to your /themes folder then refresh to see if it reads it.

Sometimes on commercial themes, the actual theme zip is within the downloaded zip file, and the download needs to be unzipped first. Unzip the download to see if there is a ‘Snapshop’ zip within in it.

Additionally, as this is a commercial theme, you should be asking the vendor your support questions.

I’ve unzipped it but I am not sure how to upload the unzipped folder

Use an ftp client or the file manager in your hosts control panel to upload the entire unzipped theme directory only. Also have a look in the unzipped directory on your desktop for a folder or file with theme usage and installation instructions. They are often in a directory named “Docs” or something similar.

If that doesn’t work for you, you will need to contact the support channel where you purchased it for instructions and documentation specific to your theme.

Some instructions can be found here: Adding New Themes

I have no clue what an ftp client is or host control panel… I only know how to login through the wordpress admin panel… feeling very lost and frustrated

Nah… it’s a piece of cake! It sounds like you may just need to take a little time to learn about the features available to you in your web hosts control panel and do a little reading about some of the tools you might need to use on occasion.

Maybe we can speed things up for you with a little more information – can you tell us who your host is – and if you feel comfortable enough, tell us your domain name (it doesn’t need to be a link, just your domain name is okay) and we might be able to point you to some helpful information.

Here is some basic information about using an FTP client: FTP Clients. Note the links at the bottom of the article.

My hosting is through cPanel and I’ll include my domain but right now it’s just my logo and some stuff a friend typed while we were playing with one of the included themes. I need to get the theme set up before I work on the rest of the changes. http://www.reinasrevolutionaryrags.com I did email the creator but they aren’t available on the weekend and my daughters preschool will be closed all week next week so I was really hoping to tackle this on the weekend.

Log into your hosting control panel by appending port 2083 to your url –

    www.reinasrevolutionaryrags.com:2083

Once logged in you should find an option named “File Manager”. You should be able to transfer files to and from your web space using the file manager.

You should log into your hosting account when you get the chance and familiarize yourself with the tools in your control panel and your hosts user FAQ. Most hosts have tutorials that will help you get started.
