[resolved] Theme works in Firefox but not in IE - images dont show in ie / wrong path (11 posts)

    Site: http://www.shortpinks.com

When viewed via IE most of the images dont work, but from FireFox they do. What I noticed is that in FireFox the path to the images is correct but when viewed in IE the path doesn't include the path to the theme folder, just /img/imagename.png instead of the full path to the image.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

But you do see the 'short pinks' name/logo upper left side yes? If I can get that image fixed, the rest will fall in line as they aren't anything 'special' as of right now. The twitter/facebook/video, chatroom images all show in firefox ok, but no in IE. And if you do a right-click property of the image in FF, it has the correct path, if you do it in IE (on the image placeholder), you get the wrong path.

    Thank you.

Is there something I'm missing that is causing IE to see the incorrect path for images, yet FireFox see's the correct path?

Who knows what IE gets up to? lol the logo displays fine in Opera, Safari and Chrome as well!

If I were you I would alter the image URLs to show the full path (the things one has to do to make IE behave!!!!!)

Ok. As I'm new to wp, what's the best/easiest way to do that? Thank you.

How are you putting your images into your theme?

I had someone make the theme for me, but can't reach them. Would a theme editor help out and if so, do you have a recommendation? Thank you.

It shouldn't be difficult to do. Go to the admin page and underneath appearances you will see 'Editor'. Clicking on this gives you an area where you can make alterations to the php files and the css.

If you look on the right hand side you will see all the template files for your theme. Open the header.php file and look for the line which contains something like

<img src="img/logo.png" alt="" height="143" /> and change the text inside the quotes to the full path of the image (including the http:// bit)

Don't forget to update the file (button at bottom)

Thank you. I found the one in the header file and thought I'd be able to find the other ones but they appear to be somewhere else. Now that I know how to fix the problem, I'll do some digging around and fix the rest of them. Thank you again.

after much digging and going back and forth between the editor and the pages, i finally figured it out and got them corrected. Totally baffling how IE and the other browsers were seeing 2 different paths. Thanks for your input.
