    Hey everybody

I have another of the wide spread IE7 / IE8 issues.

    http://dev.züridrift.ch

The site displays perfectly on Chrome and Firefox and IE9, however when using IE7 / 8 everything is spread wide so the embedded pics / videos on the blog reach from the outer left of the browser window to the outer right

I tried a few things like the “IE7 fix / Compatibility mode” but that did not change anything.

I haven’t had any real nasty issues like this one, but couldn’t find somebody else with this exact problem.

Any help would be very appreciated!

    So many thanks
    Alain

Have you Validated your Site? Mark-up or CSS errors can cause browser issues.

I tried validating the CSS and it would not even take the page — gave me an error message. Then I tried removing the u with umlaut from the URL and it worked fine. So maybe IE does not like that URL??

thanks for the hint – i will check the site for CSS errors.

your thought on the ‘ü’ umlaut is a good one.

Is it possible to redirect IE7 / IE8 users automatically from dev.züridrift.ch to dev.zuridrift.ch when they connect?

many thanks for the help, very appreciated 🙂

Dunno about the URL — but you could poke around on the web about that issue — it looked to me like there’s a fair amount of discussion about that issue.

thanks for the help – i just installed a plugin which detects the old shitty browser and tells the users to upgrade. That’s good enough for me at the moment.

    cheers
