# theme upload error message

 * I uploaded a new theme to my blog under wp-content/themes/newtheme, and expanded
   filetype upload permissions to php and css, and now when i try to get into the
   content folder i get the following error message:
 * “Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_header() in /home/dronero/public_html/
   lauren/wordpress/wp-content/index.php on line 1”

 * how do i resolve this?

 * Why are you trying to access the wp-content folder? Also, there shouldn’t be 
   an index.php in that folder anyway.

 * I’m not sure I get this…
    You do know that the theme should go in a sub-folder
   to themes, right? So if you upload a theme named `NewTheme`, you should probably
   create a folder named `wp-content/themes/newtheme/` and put the files in that
   folder. The above error doesn’t really make sense – it looks like you placed 
   the `.php` and `.css` themefiles directly in `wp-content/themes/`…

 * i’m kind of a beginner… in the “options” tab under “miscellaneous” i added extension“/
   themes/newtheme” to the URI of the directory, and not also to the destination
   directory.
 * i need to delete the files now, or whatever’s necessary to get rid of the error.
