• Hello. I was editing the functions.php in an attempt to make a custom page sidebar, and I am now getting this error:

“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /u01/var/www-vhosts/biomaterials-dev/wp-content/themes/twentyten/functions.php on line 510 “

The problem is, that the functions.php is only 508 lines long, and I am therefore very confused.

I have never posted on the forums before, so I apologize if this is the incorrect place to put this. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • It sounds like you might not have closed something right. Upload the code to past bin so we can take a look.

Here should be the code. I’m really worried that I just erased the entire site…

I realize now that I should make a child theme, however being new to the site I don’t know how to do that and would really just like to return the functions.php back to its original format. But then I began getting this error and am now unable to edit anything but the functions.php.

Edit: The first pastebin has my edited version, here is the version I am trying to get it back to.
