• Hi,
I edited somewhat the twentyeleven theme. Now i have a header image in front, but i found in my source code that behind that image; the site title and site description are presented. To be clear, these are not visible in the front, so it may only be benificial for SEO.

But i do not think that Google will like this if they found out that this code is only present in the source code and not visible in the front.

Is this a default setting for the twentyeleven theme and do you guys think that this is rather harmful for my rankings, instead of beneficial.. ?

    Thanks

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

    Hi,
Thanks for your quick reply. I used the theme as a startingpoint for the development of a custom theme. Nothing wrong with that i guess? I renamed the theme, so i still have a child (the default) theme available.

    Anyone?

i do not think that Google will like this

Google will not mind in the slightest. This is standard header/image CSS replacement technique that used across the Web and not just in WordPress.
