Hi there,
Maybe try this: add <a href=”your link to the homepage” and place it like you see below.
<h1 class="site-title"><a href="link to homepage" title="<?php echo esc_attr( get_bloginfo( 'name', 'display' ) ); ?>" rel="home"><?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?></a></h1>

@cashforyou – if you need help, please start your own thread — it’s rude to hijack another person’s thread.
@tamdoll – make sure that you are making any changes in a copy of header.php file in your child theme.
Not sure how to do it – looked in header.php – is this where I add/edit it?
Do you have a Child Theme? If not, that is not difficult to set up…and then you can make all the mods you wish right there without ever compromising the default Twenty Twelve needed by WordPress.
Edit: Oops. WPyogi got here first!
sorry thought it was just a posting place hope your not offended
Nope, it’s not a big deal – it just works better to only have one person per thread — otherwise it gets very confusing as to who’s talking to who, etc. :).
It took me longer than I thought to get back to my computer, thanks for the suggestions @barbarachicgeek @wpyogi @leejosepho !
I am working in a child theme for all my mods.
I just realized in the <h1>area wasn’t the right place to take care of the linking – there is a <a href … below it,
Looking here: “Common request from WP.com customers, make the header image a clickable link to home.” – a change was made – http://core.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/22004/22004.diff.
I guess I’m not sure exactly where to define home_url or whether the php can be modified right there (& I’m not great with php just yet, so not sure what part of that should be changed)
