[Theme: Twenty Eleven] How to add space between the menu and header image

  • I’m in the process of editing the Twenty Eleven theme (a dupe, not the original), and I need to figure out how to add some spacing between the header image and the menu.

The various things I’ve tried so far have either added white space between the two or increased the width of the menu (increasing the black space at the top of the menu).

The result I’m looking for is some division between the header and menu which will allow the background color or pattern (whichever I go with) to show in the gap. I guess another way of stating is is that I want the header to float above the menu.

    Thoughts?

I’m a little new at reading and editing CSS, but I have the basics down. But thank you in advance for your patience if I ask some noob questions.

    Thanks!

  • Look for the CSS selector ‘#branding img’ in style.css and add margin-bottom: 10px; replacing 10px with whatever you want for spacing.

    Thanks for the suggestion Jason.

However, adding margin-bottom only adds white space. I have a background pattern selected for the site and I need that pattern to show in the space between the header image and the menu.

BobaFett, linking the website at-hand would clarify this.
