[Theme: Twenty Eleven] Adding and image slider in a custom location?

Hi,

This is a compound issue…

1 – I have to duplicate a Joomla CMS site.

2 – The Joomla CMS site has a slideshow in a position that is not a natural position in Twenty Eleven.

3 – The location is beneath the header and the same width as the posts area.

4 – It would actually appear right above the first post.

5 – I have turned off the header images because they are full width – which this can’t be.

I am new to WordPress. Could anyone help me with instructions how to accomplish this? It would be an area capable of holding an imageslider plugin.
