Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

Create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

You will need to add the relevant code to footer.php in the child theme (as esmi wisely recommends that you do)

I’m not sure the poster is proposing to edit the template. I am in the same boat. There should be some way to use the existing Footer Widget to show a logo and link. I’ve tried plugins, but the link mysteriously disappears when saving.

I have set up a child theme for other reasons, so if that’s necessary, what changes are needed to allow for this?

    Thanks!
    Tom

Actually, I think I’ve solved it. Put the logo and link in Links and add the link to one of the Footer Widgets….works for me!

My solution is not good. The twenty-eleven footer widgets force all Links into list format – not visually appealing when there’s only one! How do I override the list format in just on widget of the footer?

Alternatively, how do I get an active link into the footer?
