Support » Fixing WordPress » Theme trouble: "Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare()…"

  • I’m running an e-commerce theme from someone who vanished without a trace and will no longer offer support. Unfortunately, my site now has even more bugs with the new WordPress update. At the top of the dashboard it says:

Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in …/wp-content/themes/TheJewelryShop/lib/engine/nws-admin-functions.php on line 2777 and defined in …/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 990

I’ve been told that this error will prevent me from seeing new orders in the “manage orders” section of the dashboard, which is obviously a big problem. Is there an easy way to fix this, just until I can find a new theme/developer?

Basically your site’s current theme is doing the Wrong Thing(tm). It could be that the site’s current effectiveness is not impaired by this issue but without examining the theme at some depth, there’s no way we can really confirm this.

And I’m afraid there’s no easy fix either. Any potential solution will probably require an in-depth knowledge of WordPress and PHP. All I can suggest that you consider hiring someone to investigate – and fix – this for you. It’s really well beyond the scope of these forums. 🙁

Gotcha. That’s what I wanted to find out. It was worth a shot! Now to close up shop until I find a new theme/developer 🙁
