• I’ll try and explain this as best as I can…

    This site is my primary website http://thecardist.net
    and this site is being used to test a new theme and work out functioning problems before I use it on the primary site http://testing.thecardist.net

    I’m wondering, when it’s time to move the them on the testing site to the primary site – what’s the best method to do so?

    I considered simply changing the inner blog address in the settings to match the primary, while also changing the primary to something else… but I don’t want to risk causing any major issues.

    Then I considered simply installing the theme and taking several hours to add/arrange the content as I had on the test site.

    Thoughts?

  • When the new theme is finished simply transfer it over to the themes folder on for the main site.

    “Theme” != “Content”

    To transfer the Theme, simply copy the Theme folder/files from testing.thecardist.net\wp-content\themes\theme-name\ to thecardist.net\wp-content\themes\theme-name\.

    If you also want to transfer your content, the easiest way is to export your data from the test site ( Dashboard -> Tools -> Export -> All Content), and then import the data file to the live site (Dashboard -> Tools -> Import -> WordPress Data File).
