• Hi,

I am new with WordPress and just started trying it out for my church’s new website. So, I decided to go with the Toujour’s theme which comes with a slider to feature blog posts.

Before installing it on a webhost, I tested the theme on WP.com and everything worked fine. The nice layout and slider was just perfect for our website needs.

The problem started when we decided to host it on our own webhosting server (Namecheap.com) with our own domain name (kotakemuningcoc.org). I can’t get the slider to work no matter what I tried:
    1. Uninstall and reinstalled WP
    2. Set the main page to display posts instead of a static page, disabled all plugins, reinstalled the theme (as suggested here)
    3. Wiped out everything on server and started a new installation of WP
    4. Checked all settings to match the settings on our WP.com installation (this was when I noticed the menus in the Customizer were different – pics below)

    WP on our webhost
    WP on WP.com

At this point, I am at a lost. Does anyone have any idea how to get the slider to work or suggestion for other themes with similar feature? Most themes require manually setting up the slider with imaged instead of automatically taking from the blogs posts. Any help from you would be appreciated greatly.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew!

My apologies for the delay in response to you.

Jetpack needs to installed on your site in order to activate the Featured Content panel in the Customizer.

The Jetpack plugin brings many of the features that are available on WordPress.com to your WordPress.org site and you can read a little more about it here:

    https://jetpack.com

Let me know if that’s helpful or if you have any extra questions.
