Support » Fixing WordPress » Theme sidebar blogroll overflow producing weird display …

  • Hey all,

    So I’m trying to integrate a new theme into my weblog @ sevenstripes.com. The great theme is MistyLook ( http://wpthemes.info/misty-look/ ) at my test blog ( http://area51.sevenstripes.com ).

    Now, the problem is with the blogroll’s on the bottom right of my SideBar. Here’s my sidebar code for the individual blogroll’s:
    <li class="sidebox">
    <h2>United Conservosphere:</h2>

    <a href="http://sevenstripes.com/blog/2006/08/05/united-conservosphere/"><img src="http://sevenstripes.com/images/uc3.jpg" border="0" alt="Join the United Conservosphere"></img></a>

    <div class="scroll"><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://rpc.blogrolling.com/display.php?r=ebf54728a310f4cbbc3d900c60e84099"></script>
    </div>

    </li>

    And here’s the code for my modified Style.CSS:
    .scroll {height: 200px; width: 190px; overflow: auto;}

    Can anyone identify the visual problem I’m seeing in Firefox? I don’t seem to see it in Internet Explorer, but I obviously want the visuals to look good in all browsers.

    If anyone notices anything, please help out and a big thank you for looking!

  • Still cannot seem to figure this problem out… can anyone please help?

    I’m still working on fixing it… to no avail..

    OK…

    I’ve tried playing around with the dimensions of the box, shrinking its width and height, but it didnt seem to have any affect.

    So i decided to peek at the code on my current blog that currently works:
    <div style="overflow : auto 2px #ff0000; background : #ECECEC; color : #000000; padding : 3px; width : 190px; height : 200px; overflow : auto; ">
    <script language="javascript" src="blog url here" type="text/javascript">
    </script>
    </div>

    When I added overflow : auto 2px the result was close to what I desired… if you look now at http://area51.sevenstripes.com you’ll see what I mean.

    The effect was that the top blogroll overflowed on top of the following ones, and the scroll box disappeared completely.

    Any ideas anyone?

    PS — everything works in IE, but not Mozilla/Firefox or Opera.

    Sorry to keep bumping this but I’m yielding the same result over and over and was hoping to release my blog’s new look in a few days.

    OK — partially got this fixed.

    I’m proud to report back that I fixed the validation errors and we’re not validated. The problem was that a pair of tags wree surrounding the <div> tags in question and the result was the error aforementioned.

    But I’m still getting the sloppy weird result on the website.

    The blogrolls arent contained in a box as desired, but rather, overflow all over hte place… any ideas ? Please help!

    I managed to fix the overflow problem, but now, I cant get the box to form that hsould contain the blogrolls…
